flyer_jazznacht2The first »Philharmonische Jazz-Nacht 2005« was received enthusiastically by the public, and even the live recording on CD was highly acclaimed by the reviewers. For Steffen Drabek, the initiator and head of the project, this positive response is indeed motivation to continue with the concert series that took off with a successful start. He has been able to put together another international jazz ensemble centred on the pianist Klaus Ignatzek. Based on a well known song from the Beatles, the program this time follows the motto: »with a little jazz from my friends«, because this time Drabek and Ignatzek will be interpreting the music of the legendary moptops anew, from a jazz perspective. Jazz singer Susanne Menzel will be part of the group, giving a special tone to the music with her extraordinary voice. This will open up a new, wholly unexpected view of pieces of music that we think we’ve known for decades. Other components in the concert will be the music of George Gershwin, whose songs again unfold an original and surprising tonality through fresh arrangements for the jazz ensemble and strings.
