The first Philharmonic Jazz Night seemed to be quite on the lines of jazz music with Brazilian inspirations. The fourteen string instruments of the Bremen Philharmonic Orchestra, lead by Steffen Drabek engaged in a congenial interplay with the
Roditi-Ignatzek-Rassinfosse-trio and the drummer
Hans Dekker, capturing the imagination of the public with lively bossa novas, sambas, jazz standards and own compositions. Thus, titles like “Black Orpheus" from the eponymous film are as much part of the program as classics such as “Cantaloupe Island" or “Misty". All the titles were arranged specially for this show by Steffen Drabek.
